The 2017 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack hasn’t been on the market for very long, but Volkswagen’s newest model has already become popular with both consumers and automotive journalists alike. It even managed to snag Canada’s top automotive award, the 2016 Canadian Car of the Year, earlier this year.
The Volkswagen Golf Alltrack is the Perfect Compromise
Handed out by the Automotive Journalists Association of Canada, the Canadian Car of the Year award is given after a week-long testing event known as Test Fest. Here, AJAC journalists test a wide range of new vehicles in identical conditions and rank each model according to a set of criteria. These include interior space, comfort, performance, fuel economy, design, and everything in between.
The Volkswagen Golf Alltrack finished first in its group and was named the Canadian Car of the Year at the Toronto International Auto Show last February. The Alltrack beat out the BMW M2 and the Hyundai Sonata Sport to take home top honours.
The new Golf Alltrack is a vehicle that only Volkswagen could build. Although it’s as spacious as a sport utility vehicle, it still drives like a car. Its 1.8-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged engine offers plenty of power while being fuel-efficient, and the dual-clutch automatic transmission provides plenty of performance and driving enjoyment. The new 2017 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack is also very capable off the beaten track thanks to its 4Motion all-wheel drive system and increased ground clearance.
